The 2021 China-US Young Maker Competition was wrapped up recently in Beijing. Four projects from Suzhou won the Third Prize and one the Excellence Award.
The China-US Young Maker Competition, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, is the highest-level competition for the two countries’ young makers. It has been held for 7 consecutive years, providing a platform for exchanges between youth of China and the United States.
Suzhou Dushu Lake Science and Education Innovation District was certified by the Ministry of Education at the end of 2017 as one of the 18 China-US young maker communication centers. It hosted the Suzhou tryouts of the competition in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021, which selected a number of outstanding projects for the finals held in Beijing.
This year’s competition focused on such fields as environment protection, health, and hygiene against a backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic. Contestants were encouraged to create brand-new products with social significance and commercial value by combining innovative ideas with cutting-edge technologies to help make the world a better place.
