The Hurun Research Institute recently released the Hurun Global Unicorn Index 2024, a ranking of the world’s start-ups founded after 2000 that are worth at least 1 billion U.S. dollars and not yet listed on a public exchange. There are a total of 1,453 unicorn enterprises in the world. The United States has 703 unicorn enterprises, ranking first worldwide, while China takes second place, with a total of 340. Suzhou has 12 unicorn enterprises, ranking sixth in the country and first in Jiangsu province. It has moved up 1 spot to 23rd in the ranking of cites where unicorn enterprises are based.
According to the report, one-third of the unicorn enterprises are in the sectors of financial technology, software services and artificial intelligence. This year, the number of AI enterprises surpassed that of e-commerce enterprises, ranking third on the list. It is worth noting that China is where a quarter of the world’s unicorns are based, which are mainly in the sectors of artificial intelligence, semiconductors and new energy.
The 12 unicorn enterprises in Suzhou on the Hurun global unicorn list cover a wide range of industries, including new energy, robotics, aerospace, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, software services, health technology, and corporate services.
